Report of the Committee on Mission Priorities and Stewardship
November 21, 2009 Metro Fall Meeting

Being faithful to our Vision, members of the Committee on Mission Priorities and Stewardship (COMPAS) had been actively participating in the UCC NY Conference Global Commission. Last October, Margaret Mainusch and Marcie Agee attended the Ministry and Mission Interpreters (MMI) Training in the UCC National office in Cleveland, Ohio. This is a joint project of the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Church to provide the necessary tools and connections to tell the stories of our two denominations' involvement in mission through the Global ministries. Its ultimate goal is to help filter down through every Disciples Region and UCC Conferences, and to every local mission/outreach committees so that our churches will be aware how to be a global mission congregation. With the recent training of two of our members, this brought up the number of MMI's in our Association to three. Melva Victorino had her training and was commissioned in 2007.

COMPAS continuously offers resources by providing display tables of free mission and stewardship materials and books for churches to take back to their congregations during major Metro events. The committee also makes it possible for churches to connect with resources leaders to visit them in their local setting.

As part of the major participation in the move to make the UCC New York Conference a Global Mission Conference, the NY Conference Annual Meeting on June 4, 5, and 6, 2010 which will be held at Silver Bay (Lake George), NY, will focus on this theme. The three of us are representing our Association by working with the planning committee for this event.
