March 9-11, 2007 State Youth Event was held at Watson Homestead, Painted Post, New York . Over 140 youth and advisors were in attendance.

The theme was Celebrate.!!! in celebration of the United Church of Christ's 50 th Anniversary. The key note speaker was Rev. DaVita McCallister Minster for Youth, Young Adult and Outdoors, Local Church Ministries UCC. She was very dynamic and challenged the youth to witness and worship. The youth attended workshops on a variety of contemporary topics. We are grateful for the support of the workshop leaders from the Association Rev. Wayne and Ingrid Wilson, Terry McKnight and Nigel Gretton. The Rev. Peter Denenbaum, the German Exchange Pastor, also provided workshop leadership.

The following churches participated in the State Youth Event: St. Albans Congregational Church UCC, Lemuel Haynes Congregational Church UCC, Congregational Church of South Hempstead UCC, Flatbush Tompkins Congregational Church, Chatterton Hill Congregational Church UCC and Grace Congregational Church UCC (The Bronx/Westchester).

A lot of work goes into making the Youth Event a success. Without the support of the youth and advisors on the State Youth Committee, the Conference Staff and the Conference at large there would be no youth event each year. This Association is represented by youth Catherine Jordan, Flatbush Tompkins Congregational Church and Bobby Crooks, Lemuel Haynes Congregational UCC, and the advisor is Terry McKnight, Congregational Church of South Hempstead UCC. The New York Conference is the only Conference that holds a yearly Conference-wide youth event. We have a lot to be proud of.

Mark your calendar for the 2008 March 7, 8, 9th, 2008 State Youth Event March Watson Homestead Painted Post, New York .

Respectfully Submitted,

Deborah Dee Brayton
Co-Coordinator State Youth Committee
