Acts 20:28b
"Be Shepherds of the church of God "

The Metro Association and Christhava Tamil Koil (CTK) entered into an agreement in 2002 to share the space at the former Community Church of Elmhurst located at 79-11 Caldwell Avenue, Middle Village, NY. The committee consists of members from both Metro and CTK who work together to take care of the upkeep and expenses for the operation of the building.

Two portions of the space are occupied by the Metro offices and the church makes full use of the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. Other areas are shared by both. Expenses have been more than originally anticipated, and thus there have been ongoing negotiations and adjustments in the portions paid by Metro and CTK.

The original plan to co-op or condominium the space is undergoing some changes. There is not yet a finalized plan, but we are hopeful that a complete agreement and legal work can be done in the near future for the benefit of both parties.

We are happy to report the accomplishments made with regard to repairs and improvements to the building:

  • The handicap ramp has been installed. This was a Metro expense.

  • The waterproofing project has been completed. This was a joint expense.

  • Some repairs, replacements and upgrades have been made to the boiler and hot water heater.

  • CTK has made improvements to the Fellowship Hall by replacing the flooring and adding additional bathrooms.

We were saddened to lose our chairperson, Mrs. Althea White, who passed on December 1, 2005. She added a special dimension to the committee, and we miss her.

Metro and CTK will continue to work together to create the best possible arrangements for both.
