The UCC Metro Women's Spring Retreat will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Emanuel Church, UCC.  Preacher will be the Rev. Cynthia Jackson .  Rev. Jackson's sermon title is "Prepared by God for Such a Time As This".  The Bible Study will be led by  Rev. A. Toni Walrond.  The Metro Women Thespians will perform a skit, "That Letter from Paul", followed by small group discussions.  The theme of the event is "We've come A Long Way".

The UCC New York State Women's Conference will be held in April 30 - May 2, 2009 at Watson Homestead, Painted Post, NY.  This year's theme is "Imagine Peace" and the keynote speaker for Friday. May 1 and preacher on Saturday, May 2 is the Rev. Dr. Joan Brown Campbell, director of the Religious Department of Chautauqua Institute and former Secretary General of the National council of Churches and the World Council of Churches.  Church women from different churches of the Metro Association and the Suffolk Association will be attending the event and participating in the program.

Ms. Dorothy Gist, from St. Albans Congregational Church, is one of the three women from the New York Conference nominated by the NY State Women for the Honored Lay Women Award to be awarded during a banquet at the General Synod at Grand Rapids, Michigan in June 26-29, 2009. The other women to receive this award are Ms. Jean Golden from the Western Association and Ms. Mona Arnold from the Susquehanna Association.

Ms. Sylvia Martin from the Congregational Church of South Hempstead was also nominated by the United Black Christians from Metro Association to receive the Honored Lay Women Award, and will be receiving her award during the banquet.
