Metro Mission Priorities and Stewardship Committee

Annual Report - 2003-2004

This year the Mission Priorities and Stewardship Committee focused on two areas of work.

The first area is that of providing small grants for organizations that work ecumenically and provide programming and/or services promoting justice, peace, education or self-help.

Three organizations received grants:

1. The Parish Resource Center, West: $ 5,000
2. Long Island Council of Churches: $ 2,500
3. NY Metro Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice: $ 2,500

All 3 organizations have goals that live out the guidelines of the committee and there is no doubt that the grants given will have a positive impact to continuance of their rich programming.

The other area the committee has begun to place renewed energy on is the area of stewardship, both from a financial outlook and from the development of full community in our churches. Plans are under way for the upcoming year to be primarily focused on the question of developing stewardship techniques for churches and the association.
